Trugs, trays, baskets and crates all have so many uses in the home. They help to keep things neat and tidy, are a good place to store items and usually make things easier to find. Sometimes they are there just for purely decorative purposes. These ten items that I have chosen from notonthehighstreet.com will hopefully give you some ideas for your home.

Here’s a display that’s a little bit different with a wooden trug, some pretty silk flowers and a trendy interiors magazine (with perhaps an addition of a bottle of Pomerol!)

Not everything at the The White Company is white! Their Provence style furniture is painted in a beautiful grey that truly enhances the unique design and style of this lovely collection. I love the versatility of the armoire and wardrobe, the antique look of the lamp and the beautiful cane top and toe of the bed.
The only problem that I have with the armoire is in which room to put it as it is so versatile. It would make a stunning linen cupboard especially if filled with pretty floral quilts, monogrammed white sheets, lacy pillowcases and plump spare pillows. On the other hand I love the way that it has been filled with hanging mugs, kitchen utensils, tea cloths and everyday china for kitchen or dining room as shown in the above photo. Either way why not leave the doors open to show everything off. Continue Reading
A touch of grey can be so beautiful, although looking out of the window at the grey skies might give me reason to change my mind. Grey in the home however can add a stylish contrast to just plain white. I picked the following grey collection from Designers Guild. I hope you like them.
I’m a great fan of hand made items, especially stoneware and these lovely crackled finish bowls and plates from Jars sit so beautifully on the grey linen placemats and napkins. The tableware would look equally stylish if placed on a pretty grey (or grey and white) tablecloth.
This Versailles garden platinum cushion also from Designers Guild has beautiful shades of grey and a gorgeous silky satin sheen, but it’s the stitched leaves in various shapes that make it a real winner. Finished off with a plain back and silk trim. this cushion could easily take pride of place in any living room, dining room or bedroom.
What more could you want but to snuggle up on the sofa in a nice soft throw. This gorgeous marquisette platinum throw is made from luxurious marino wool, so curling up inside it wouldn’t be too difficult and the different shades of grey, curly stripes and fringed edges will brighten up any grey day.
They say a tidy desk is a tidy mind and L’Atelier D’exercices have some great design ideas to keep things in order. Looking at my workspace, sometimes, (more often than I care to admit), I am in need of a few fresh ideas!
The L’Atelier D’exercices Alps Document Organiser is a stunning piece of desk chic. The beech wood base is home to white acrylic ‘mountains!’ It is possible to write notes etc. on the removable Continue Reading
